Pathrise opens new Finance, Banking, & Accounting track

Want to launch a career in finance? Pathrise has opened a new track in Finance, Banking, & Accounting. While we were limited to just a handful of tech roles for many years, we had endless requests to expand our program to include finance roles. After all, finance roles are some of the most in-demand and well-paying jobs today. With high salaries and a competitive environment, these roles are perfect for professionals eager to make an impact right out of the gate. We’re so excited to help people land their dream job in these fields.

Rather than a course or bootcamp on finance, we provide career mentorship and technical interview prep. In other words, we don’t teach people finance, accounting, or banking–we help them land their dream job in these fields, learning along the way.

Our program is completely online and flexible, with about 10 hours of work per week. The program is free until you get hired–this guaranteed placement means you pay nothing unless you land a great job in finance, banking, or accounting. Past finance fellows have been placed at Amazon, Citibank, and other top companies.

Curriculum of Finance, Banking, & Accounting track

Fellows in the program work 1-on-1 with career mentors and industry mentors with high-level experience in finance, banking, or accounting. For example, our new Finance, Banking, & Accounting mentor, Ashleigh Williams, previously worked for Goldman Sachs. She now drives partnership strategy for Microsoft. Other mentors come from top companies like Amazon, Dell, and CitiBank.

Mentors work 1-on-1 with fellows to optimize their resumes, perfect their online profiles, source opportunities, and network as effectively as possible. Throughout the program and job search, fellows participate in rigorous mock interview sessions with their mentors as well. They also meet weekly for reflections to improve after real interviews.

For behavioral interviews, fellows get a unique behavioral matrix to nail elevator pitch and ace any question. We even predict finance interview questions with data so fellows can prepare beforehand. Practicing essential questions beforehand can make fellows feel like they have a crystal ball. While their performance improves, their confidence skyrockets.

Who could forget the dreaded “case interview”? These technical interviews for Finance, Banking, & Accounting are known to be especially competitive and rigorous. Not only do applicants need to know their material, but they need to be able to think on their feet and communicate their thought process. Interviews often have complex criteria to judge applicants in real time, often for factors that have nothing to do with the interview question itself. Luckily, this means that there’s a system to master case interviews.

Case interviews often include “estimation” and “market size” questions that ask interviews to quickly assess value from a word problem. Interviewers want to see applicants think quickly and justify quantitatively. Fellows in our program attend an extensive workshop that provides a foundation for doing “napkin math” in high pressure interviews. Throughout the workshop fellows get an opportunity to practice their approach to answering these questions. To prepare for “strategy” case questions, fellows attend another workshop to walk through an example case and some common frameworks that are used to approach these types of questions.

Reasons to join the Finance, Banking, & Accounting track

While it’s well-known that starting salary shapes lifetime earnings, negotiation in a competitive field like finance can be terrifying. Candidates may be afraid that negotiation will leave a bad taste in their new company’s mouth, or worse, get their offer retracted. That’s why our mentors handle the entire negotiation process. We’ve never had an offer retracted.

If you would like to work 1-on-1 with one of our mentors to land your dream job in Finance, Banking & Accounting or any of our tracks, join Pathrise. The first 2 weeks are a free trial to see if the program is right for you.
